In the heart of the Bundaberg region, Peirson Farms stretches across more than 140 hectares of lush farmland and does more than simply grow fruit. For decades, this not-for-profit farm has nurtured high-quality fresh produce, with every harvest helping to support vulnerable children and youth.

Peirson Farms is best known for its avocados, complemented by macadamia production. But Peirson Farms is more than just a produce supplier. The farm’s motto, “Produce with Purpose,” reflects a deeply rooted mission: all proceeds from their harvests directly fund charitable work under Peirson Services providing counselling, youth support services, and vocational training to disadvantaged youth and their families across the Bundaberg region.

The roots of Peirson Farms go back to 1947, when the Peirson Memorial Trust was established after the Peirson sisters donated their sugar-cane farm in Bundaberg to the Ann Street Presbyterian Church with the aim of housing and training orphans. What started as providing residential care to children in need later expanded to provide youth support and counselling services. Although the group homes closed in 2010, the commitment to helping young people persisted eventually evolving into the modern mix of social services and agricultural enterprise that defines Peirson Farms today.

Peirson Farms has been one of the initiators of school-based initiatives such as the Integrated Pathways at Bundaberg program, introducing students to agriculture through hands-on experience with avocado growing and farming practices. This involvement brings home the message that farming can offer meaningful opportunities for young people, and a real path to a brighter future.

At its heart, Peirson Farms believes that every person matters. Their vision is to use the farm to guide young people toward lives of hope and purpose with quality produce serving as the bridge between community support and sustainable agriculture.

Through ethical farming, quality produce, and a strong commitment to investing in young people, Peirson Farms shows how agriculture can nourish not just bodies, but lives.
